Engineer Aminul Islam, Chairman,Metal.


Considered the lifeline of the Corporate, Engineer Aminul Islam was born on February 11, 1945 in Barisal, Bangladesh. He was born to late Alhaj Mubassairuddin and late Jamila Khatun of Barisal. He is married to Ms. Najma Islam and has three wonderful daughters.

He graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1965.

Soon after graduation Engineer Aminul Islam joined the government Department of Civil Engineering. The skill and ability of the young engineer outshone others and he was made the project-in-charge of the Chittagong Cement Clinker Grinding Factory in 1967. When the Factory went into production in 1974, he was appointed the General Manager of the Factory. Within two years he put in place everything about the smooth functioning of the Factory and he was transferred to take over as the Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Mineral Exploration and Development Corporation.

The year 1978 was critically important in his whole career as he decided to leave the government job and join M/S Project Builders Ltd as one its Directors. Next year, he was made the Managing Director of the Company and since then he has never looked back.

The PBL has flourished under his direct guidance and supervision and has been recognized as a house of excellence both at home and abroad. He has created a number of sister concerns which are as follows:

Canopus Ltd, a garments factory, Life Line International, a special food (spirulina) producing company, the Metal (Pvt) Ltd and other Metal companies for import and distribution of Tractors and other agri machineries including other non-core businesses,  Hitech Professionals, a company for import of computers and developing soft wares, and City  Axis Ltd, a real estate developer. With his Midas touch Eng. Aminul Islam has made all these sister concerns highly profitable.

 Engineer Aminul Islam has the distinction of being associated with some prestigious bodies/ societies/clubs. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, past President of IFAWPCA (International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Association), past President of Bangladesh Association of Construction Industry(BACI), past President of Rotary Club of Dhaka North West, Member Dhaka Club, and Member Savar Golf Club, Dhaka.

With 50 years of professional experience, Engineer Aminul Islam is  the name of an icon in the Bangladesh business world, adept at building mutually beneficial partnerships, maintaining friendly relations with stakeholders, vendors and service providers and  skilled in creating strategic alliances with other business leaders to effectively align with and support key business initiatives.


 


Engineer Sadid Jamil,Managing Director,Metal.


An avid enthusiast in entrepreneurship, Engineer Sadid Jamil was born on May 1, 1957, in Dhaka. He grew up under the affectionate care of his parents Late Engineer Jamil Uddin Ahmed and Ms. Sabiha Ahamed and had an excellent schooling. He graduated from the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT), Khulna in 1982. He is married to Ms. Urmi Sadid and has one daughter and a son.

Sadid Jamil, a vibrant young mechanical engineer, had a brief spell of service in the public sector and worked as Assistant Engineer in the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).

1987 for Engineer Jamil was a year of great decision-making. He left the warmth of a secure job and moved to become an entrepreneur. He then founded a business of bodybuilding of automotive vehicles, The Metal. It was a company established that year for importing chassis and manufacturing bus and truck bodies. It turned out to be unprofitable and the business was aborted. The scenario of Bangladesh’s agriculture, the farmer walking behind the bullocks, the wooden plows over the shoulder, came to his mind; the age-old farming practices had no change. He beheld a vision to work in the mechanization of Bangladesh’s agriculture. He founded another company in 1993, The Metal (Pvt) Ltd, and became its Managing Director. The company then started importing tractors and other mechanized tools for agriculture, and the new business clicked.

Besides the Metal, he has managed other companies that he founded after 2000 CE in course of time. The core idea of his business was Agriculture, he made other businesses too, which are non-core to his group, Metal. They are –Metal Plus Ltd, Metal Agro Ltd, Metal seed Ltd, Metal Agrttech Ltd, Metal farm Teach Ltd. Metal Parts Ltd, Metal Motors Ltd, Jamil Engineers Ltd, Cox’s Bazar Surf Club Ltd, etc.

Engineer Sadid Jamil is a management enthusiast and has never missed an opportunity to update his skill. He attended management courses in Bangladesh,the USA,and Japan over the last two decades.

Engineer Sadid Jamil is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh.

A significant aspect of his interests is his love for finearts which he pursues by avocation.Endowed with an aesthetic taste, he has a fairly large collection of artworks done by Bangladeshi artists, young and old. His collection comprises all forms of art – oil, watercolor, pencil sketches, acrylic, and pastel.He has a special liking for abstract painting, though figurative painting is not altogether absent. He is a frequent visitor of art exhibitions in Dhaka and spends quality time in the exhibitions halls.

Teaming up with Engineer Aminul Islam, Mr. Sadid Jamil has had a brilliant career in business administration and management in the companies he has been serving as the Managing Director. His skill in management and business development has gone a long way in providing the necessary power for the companies he has been serving since 1987.


Life: Md. Mizanur Rahman, ED & HOB Metal Farmtech Ltd.


Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman hails from the northern part of Bangladesh, grew up in the pastoral environment in the shadows of the famous lychee trees of Dinajpur in a riverine land fertilized by the alluvium of river Ichamoti. He was born in 1970, a turbulent time for Bangladesh preparing for its independence. Mr. Rahman had his early education in schools and colleges near his village home and in the district town, Dinajpur, not far away. He scored good results in his early academics. He prepared to become an Agriculturist. After his Senior School, he got admission to Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, the premier seat of learning agriculture in Bangladesh. He had studied Agriculture and graduated in 1992 with honors.

He started his career with Metal, the agribusiness group in 1996 as sales promotion officer of The Metal (Pvt) Ltd that promotes agriculture machinery, and is a sole distributor of TAFE tractors. He has made a smooth career in Metal, doing well in his performance, reaching goals and targets. He rose to the position of Senior General Manager in 2014.

He has discontinued with Metal for a spell of about 2 years when he worked in similar businesses in ACI Motors Ltd and Karnaphully Ltd.

He resumed after a short break in Metal in 2010. He now leads one of Metal’s Core businesses, Metal Plus Ltd, the exclusive distributor for Eicher tractor in Bangladesh, and Metal Motors Ltd, the automotive business of the group.

Mr. Rahman read for business education too and obtained MBA from South East University in 2011. He successfully completed a diploma course at the Indian Institute of Kharagpur (IIT) in 2005.

Mr. Rahman is a member of the Bangladesh Krishibid Institute, a professional body of agriculturists of Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman is married to Ms. Rabeya Rahman and has 2 children.


 


Life– Dr. Md.Ansar Ali


Born in 1960 in Khulna, Dr. Md Ansar Ali had his schooling in his hometown. He pursued an Agriculture Honours degree from Bangladesh Agriculture University, Mymensingh in 1983. Afterward, he specialized in Molecular Plant Pathology, Master’s degree from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine, the nineties by British Council Scholarship, and was awarded World Bank Scholarship for pursuing a Ph.D. from the University of London. He further pursued a Post-Doctoral research fellowship from JIRCAS, Japan.

Dr. Ali started his research career as Scientific Officer in 1986 at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI). He had a long scientific career and significant contribution to the Rice improvement & led the Institute as Director Research for more than 3 yrs.

Dr. Ali successfully coordinated many Projects with the financial assistance of Gates Foundation, JICA, KOICA, USAID, DFID, AusAID, ADB, WB, etc

During his career with BRRI, he had taken part as a participant and/or speaker in many training, workshop, seminars at the international level and visited 37 countries including, the Philippines, USA, China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, EU, and Asian countries. He has more than 100 scientific research publications in national and international Journals and Supervised 13 Ph.D. students on molecular plant pathology, rice breeding, and salinity.

On 1st Oct, , 2019  he retired from the public job at BRRI as Director Administration and Joined the Metal Agro Limited as an Executive Director & Head of Business in 2020 with leads to Metal Agro Ltd, Metal Seeds Ltd, and Metal Biotech Nursery Ltd.

Dr. Ansar Ali is married and is blessed with one daughter and two sons.


 


Life: Engr. Md. Abul Kashem, Advisor.


Born in 1957 in a  village, Muhammoodpur, of Senbag Upazila in Noakhali district, Engr. Md. Abul Kashem spent his childhood in the village. He received his early education in the schools near his village home. He made excellent results in his school and college-level courses. He decided to study engineering for his graduation. In 1982 he graduated from Engineering college, Khulna in mechanical engineering.

In 1985, he started his career with a public sector corporation, Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) under the Ministry of Industries as an Assistant Engineer. By sheer diligence, sincerity, and commitment to work he rose to become Managing Director of one of the Units of BSEC involved in manufacturing/assembling Motor Cycles, Atlas Bangladesh Ltd. Simultaneously he held the responsibility of Bangladesh Sword Blade Factory Ltd. He earned success for both companies.

After leaving the public sector Company in 2017, he joined the private sector to contribute his experience and management skills to the development of private sector business. In 2019 he joined Metal’s service and became an Advisor for its Jamil Engineers Ltd, a light engineering workshop involved in manufacturing small tools and equipment for use in farming, and Metal Motors Ltd, a company in the automotive business. Additionally, Engr. Kashem also leads Jamil Engineers Ltd. as its business head.

A widely traveled person Mr. Kashem has a keen interest in developing the mechanical skill of the technicians in Metal and takes interest to train them to acquire the modern approaches and use of technology.

Engr. Kashem is married to Ms. Shirin Afroz and has a son and a daughter.


 


Life: Md. Akbar Ali, Senior General Manager, HRD.


Born in 1954 in Natore in the North Bengal, Mr. Md. Akbar Ali had a peaceful childhood in a tranquil village. He had gone to the village Schools for his education. He did well in his academics. He graduated in Arts in 1979 and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Science from Rajshahi University.

Mr.Md.Akbar Ali is a career banker, started his career as a Probationary Officer of Janata Bank, a state-owned bank in 1980. In the Bank, he got the opportunity to work in branch baking and at policy-making levels in different divisions of the Head Office. After twenty years of relentless service in Janata Bank, he moved to a Private Bank, Social Islami Bank Ltd (SIBL). In both the banks he spent most of his career in managing and developing human resources in the Human Resources Divisions. Human resources planning, recruitment, preparing job duties, job needs analysis, training, motivation, compensations, etc. have been the major functions he had successfully performed over the years.

Mr.Md.Akbar Ali also obtained a degree in business management, MBA in 2007. He got a professional Diploma from the Bangladesh Institute of Bankers. In 2012 he obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) of the Asia Pacific University. He also has a membership of the Bangladesh Bar Council as an Advocate to practice law.

In his banking career spanning over 38 years, he became a Senior Executive Vice President of the Bank. He completed his terms with SIBL in May 2018. Following that year he joined Metal as Group Head of Human Resources and Senior General Manager.

Mr. Md Akbar Ali is married to Ms. Ramija Ali and has three children.


 


Life: Md. Shafiqul Islam, Sr. GM PSD, Metal Plus Ltd.


Born in 1965 in a family of  Physicians and Engineers as his Father and siblings were, Mr. Md Shafiqul Islam, although had very good academic feats preferred to tread a different way. He studied business instead.  Afterwards, in 1988 he obtained Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Business Studies in 1989 from Dhaka University. He later, in 2004, pursued an MBA in Finance at the South East University and successfully earned the degree.

He started his career in a foreign buying office and moved to many diverse business affiliations, foreign and local corporate such as Daewoo Corporation of Korea, Grameenphone (GP), Apollo Hospitals Dhaka and Energypac Power Generations Ltd. He held senior management responsibilities there and managed multiple business areas from international business to off-shore trading to developing hospital facilities to managing supply chain functions and many others. In the span of his career, Mr. Islam had previously worked for METAL for two years and developed and integrated the supply chain processes in METAL for the first time. After a break of several years, Mr. Islam has joined Metal Plus Ltd to lead its Power Support Division as Senior General Manager of the Company.

In a career working for foreign companies, local corporates, and a telecom operator like Grameenphone (GP), a subsidiary of the world’s leading telecom organization Telenor, Mr. Islam got the privilege of working in the modern digital workplace and attending training, workshops, Seminars at home and abroad that has enriched his career. He has put up with him a rich corporate culture that he inherited in his career.

Mr. Md Shafiqul Islam is married to Ms.Syeda Farhana Rahman, and has two daughters.


 


Life: Dinesh Chandra Ghosh, General Manager, Compliance and Audit


Born In 1955 in Tangail, Dinesh Chandra Ghosh had his early education in his village. He took interest in the studies of Commerce and pursued an academic discipline in that direction. After graduating in Commerce from Devendra College in 1977, he was admitted to Dhaka University for studying Masters’s in accounting course.  He successfully passed the Master’s degree in Accounting in 1980

After completing his university courses he joined “Rahman, Kashem & Company”, a renowned Chartered Accountancy firm as an article student. During his stay in the Chartered Accountancy Firm, he had performed the audit in many big public and private enterprises frequently to ensure accuracy of their accounts reporting for preparation of their balance sheets. The list includes many big names including banks and financial institutions.

He afterward joined Bangladesh Pharmacy Council, an entity under the Ministry of Health and family welfare of the Government of Bangladesh as an Audit Officer and was subsequently promoted to the In-charge of Audit. He stayed in the Government service and was involved in Audits of Accounts for about 36 years.

He joined Metal in 2016 as Group head of its Audit and Compliance Division. He subsequently, got to the position of General Manager.

Mr. Ghosh is married to Ms. Manika Ghosh and has 2 Children.


 


Life: Md.Fazlul Karim,  General Manager & Head,Metal Motors Ltd-CED & Jamil Engineers Ltd.


Born in 1965 in Rangpur, an old city in North Bengal Mr. Md. Fazlul Karim grew up there amidst an urban ambiance. He had his early education there and succeeded in an excellent academic upbringing. He had his high school academics in Science at the Rangpur Zilla School and completed his higher secondary course at the Carmichael College, Rangpur in 1983.

He attended the Bangladesh Institute of Technology (BIT) Khulna, now the Khulna University of Engineering & Technology to pursue Engineering. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1989.

After his graduation, Mr. Fazlul Karim started his career with Bangladesh Oxygen Ltd, (BOC) a multinational corporation in Bangladesh, now Linde Ltd in 1994. He stayed with the company for 10 years. During his career in the company, he played important roles in the sales and marketing of the company in senior positions. After his career with BOC, he moved to a private business involved in engineering gases and other engineering projects; he held the position of CEO. He stayed in the company for about 9 years.

In 2014 Mr. Fazlul Karim Joined Metal as General Manager. He was business Head of different business divisions of Metal. He led Metal Parts Ltd, a company in the parts and customer service business for several years from its inception. Mr. Karim, presently, looks after Jamil Engineering Ltd, a Metal company involved in manufacturing small machines, equipment, and tools used in farming.

Mr. Karim attended training and workshops at home and abroad, while in BOC, and also afterward.

Mr. Md. Fazlul Karim is married to Ms. Farhana Rahman and has two children.


 


Life: Mr. Zahirul Hoque, General Manager, CMRD.


Born in 1966 in Kishorgonj, a district which is famous for its haors (water submerged areas or a wetland ecosystem) Mr. Zahirul Hoque had a childhood in the abundance of water in haors and beels (huge continued mass of lands for fishing and farming when the water recedes). His family lived in Kishorgonj town; he had his early education in Kishorgonj. He had graduated in 1987 from Gurudoyal Govt. College, Kishoregonj. He came to Dhaka for his post-graduate studies and did a Master’s in Management from Dhaka College in 1997.

He entered into C.A. Course as an article student with a C.A firm M/S Siddiqui Wali & Company and obtained practical orientation and training under the firm regarding audits and accounts. He had, in course of his article ship, conducted audits of many public and private enterprises in checking and examining their accounts thoroughly and prepared reports on them.

He started his career with a weekly paper in Kishorgonj, his hometown. Then, he had a brief career in a Bank, Sonali Bank Ltd under a Financial Sector reforms Project. He afterward moved to Proshika, one of the largest NGOs in Bangladesh as a Senior Auditor. He worked in Proshika from 1997 to 2004.

He joined Metal in 2005 as a Senior Manager of the Recovery Department. He then rose through the ranks in course of his duration of work. He is now a General Manager of the Credit Management and Recovery Division of the Metal (Pvt) Ltd.

Mr. Zahirul Hoque attended training and workshops at home and abroad. He attended a training conducted by Shore Bank Advisory Services, Chicago, the USA in 2001. He completed a training course at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India.

Mr. Hoque has a keen interest in organizing juvenile cultural and sports feats.

Mr. Zahirul Haque is married to Ms. Mahmuda Hoque and has one child.
